The Memory Post...

I'm keeping this chain alive from another friends blog.

The rules were laid out thusly:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave a memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll be sure to write one about you.

3. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

4. Please do this on your page too, so we can all share in the fun times together :-)

Rafting on the SNAKE!! farewell grandma

This past weekend has been interesting. My ward peeps and I went river rafting in Jackson Wyoming. It was so much fun. I got to get to know the people in my ward a little better. I also got to try out my new camping pad and down sleeping bag. it was so warm. the second night that we were there it got pretty chilly. the first night was just right. well except for those who slept under the stars they got alot of bug bites!. those dang blood suckers. they are kind of annoying.

I left early they had 2 river runs a day and i left after the first river run on saturday. The peeps in my boat saturday were really interesting. we had alot of different personalities on the boat. the funniest part was when the push the loud girl out of the boat that was squirting everyone. she totally didn't expect it. i think she got pushed out twice. I heard the second run she went down that day she was squirting everyone and her boat threw her out and wouldn't let her back in. that's sad but funny at the same time!lol
I left early on saturday because my Grandma Bennion has been really sick. She was diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 years ago. It spread to her lymph nodes and they told her the cancer would re-occur in about 2 years if she went untreated. She decided not to do chemo or radiation. about 2 weeks ago she was diagnosed with Liver cancer. her breast cancer had spead down there.
I was grateful to be able to go see her and take care of her this past weekend. although it was kind of hard to see her so weak and unable to take care of herself. She just passed away yesterday afternoon. I kind of feel weird because i'm sad she's gone but i haven't really cried and maybe it just hasn't set in yet.
I feel like it was a blessing for her to pass aways because after she was diagnosed with the liver cancer they told her she had 2 months. she pretty much gave up all will to live at that point and went down hill fast. i mean it's only been 2 weeks since the diagnoses. i thought that was an interesting concept. We were talking with hospice nurses and they had mentioned the power of the brain on dying. The nurse was telling us that if people have any unresolved issues alot of people hold on until things are resolved and then they pass when it's resolved. I think once grandma decided she was done that why she went downhill so fast.
When i saw her last weekend she was miserable. she wasn't in alot of pain but she would take pain meds and sleep forever because the liver helps process some of those drugs so her chemisty was all out of wack. She would wake up and her shoulders would just ache. She was super skinny just bones and skin. I so grateful that she's in a better place now and able to reunite with the love of her life :0)

Swimming like a fish

Tonight i went swimming with my roommate Domoina. i found out that i really have bad technique on most of the stokes i know. This girl who is in our ward was teaching us how to swim. Domoina's still working on floating but she's getting better :0) she's not as scared now!
I have taken swimming lessons before but i always have a problem with inhaling water as i come up for a breath. Erin was really good to work me so i didn't keep having this problem. My favorite part of the evening was when she taught me how to do the flip turns. I have always wanted to learn how to do this bu never have. I never thought i would say this but I really really enjoyed swimming laps. I used to not like it very much because i would always inhale water, but now that I have that problem almost fixed i really enjoy it. Especially now that i know how to do the flip turns those are fun but take alot of air. i'm still working on the flip turns. i always have to stop right after the turn to catch my breath but i think once i build up my endurance i should be fine :0)

I never realized how much swimming works out your whole body. you get cardio plus a little resistance training. My goal for next time is try to make it acoss the pool and back with out stopping and inhaling water. Erin told me that next time she was possibly going to teach me how to do the butterfly. i heard that this is the hardest stoke and takes the most energy. i'm kind of excited to learn it. it looks so cool!!
